Jonathan Cannon picturePrior to founding the consultancy Jonathan had been a Head of School for 20 years and is recognized as one of the preeminent educators in the field. Jonathan’s reputation has been built by the success of the schools that he led; most recently the internationally renowned Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Greater Washington, from which Jonathan retired in July 2013 after 12 years at the helm. Jonathan is known for his compassion, his strategic thinking, his communication skills as a writer and public speaker, his educational knowledge and ability to manage change as well as his (British) sense of humo(u)r. Under his leadership, the school became an exemplar of 21st Century education and technology innovation while remaining a community that prioritizes building a religious identity, mutual respect and community service.

An accomplished educator and administrator, Jonathan is active in the wider education community and frequently invited to present keynotes and professional development sessions at conferences and schools. Jonathan served on the board of the Association of Independent Schools of Greater Washington and has been an advisor on religious aspects of the TV show, The West Wing. In 1995, he received the Most Outstanding Teacher in UK Award from the Chief Rabbinate of England. Jonathan is married to Gilly Cannon, an educator and writer, and they have three sons; Benjy, Aron & Jacob.
